Buy this and throw away your plastic litter scoops! I just put all of my old plastic scoops into the trash.This scoop works well with clumping litter; I use Fresh Step. Clumped litter stuck to the bottom of the box is hard to remove with a plastic scoop and unless done with care will bend and crack plastic scoops. This scoop is up to the task and makes a quick job of stuck-on clumped litter.The slots are wider than those of my old plastic scoop; this makes the sifting process go much faster. Between the easier bottom scraping and the faster sifting I walked away from scooping out the litter boxes with a smile.Nitpicks:1. The metal part of the scoop does not run inside the full length of the handle; it only penetrates the handle by about 2-1/2". Just as I've done with similarly constructed ice cream scoops and other hard-use implements I pulled off the handle and reattached it with a good amount of 2 part epoxy for a longer life. I accept occasional handle pull-out as part of life with implements priced under $15.2. Out of the package the aluminum part of the scoop had some residue of machining or polishing compound on it that could dirty your hands or clothing upon contact. Of course the purpose of this scoop is to handle some very dirty substances but I would prefer that it be clean upon first opening it.I recently rescued a senior cat. She was suffering from a multitude of illnesses, including Hyperthyroidism. I had to keep her separated from my cat and dogs, until she was tested and became healthier. Due to that, I had to have a separate litter box. Because of her size, I only needed a small box and small scooper. This fit the bill perfectly. It is a one piece unit with a handle grip. Compared to my other scooper, which was two pieces, and separated. I had to glue that one back together. My other scooper also has a finish on it which the clumping litter stuck to. This scooper does not suffer from that problem. I like this scooper much better than my more larger, more expensive scooper. And it isn't very expensive at all.The scoop is very deep and is easy to to use. The handle is well shaped and it is VERY sturdy. I am happy with the purchase and would definitely purchase again if this ever broke. BUT, I suspect it will last pretty much forever.Three minor nits, I wasn't sure how to reflect them so I marked them under ergonomics but they are minor nits: 1) The leading edge is a tiny bit too thick. If slightly thinner it would more easily slide under those pesky urine blobs that stick to the box. 2) The scoop could be slightly longer so the angle to the leading edge is a little less steep. That would make it more easy to slide the scoop down the side of the box and make the transition to the bottom of the box to get those blobs that inevitably are at the edge and/or corner. 3) For my cat box, the slots are just a tiny bit too wide. Some smaller pieces are missed on the first scoop and I have to scoop again to get them. This happens no matter what the width is but this could be better. NOTE: that may not be an issue on the small scoop since the slots are listed as being a bit more narrow.Makes the job simple, quick, without struggle. There was forethought by the person who designed this scoop. Quality in materials, ease of use, and ability to get the job done quickly make this the BEST SCOOP I have ever used. The only suggestion I would make is an option to purchase one with a long handle.I had no idea what a huge improvement this is. All my life I have tentatively scooped since all I have ever owned are plastic scoops. You can dig in!!I’ve used these for years, occasional cleanup to remove inevitable litter buildup and they are good to go. No one should tolerate what are essentially disposable plastic litter scoopsExcellent product. You only need this scooper, sturdy, pretty as well, strong!!!!! Great scooper!!Throw away all your junk scoopers because they are junkIt does the job and holds a lot of litter without breaking like the plastic ones. Easier to clean too.I researched for an hour, reading reviews (the negative ones are usually the most honest) and everything I viewed was badly flawed except this one, and using it, it does not at all disappoint -- to the contrary, happily.The arm is all metal inside and strong; the join area is strong with its 3 metal braces; the slots are not too big nor too small; the scooping edge has no teeth; the width, wider than most such scoops, means less digging around and less time; and the PRICE is cheaper than other scoops not fit for purpose.Before investigating, I didn't know these are the important things, and that all other ones have these flaws making them not well-fit for purpose.Some people complained about the width but it easily fits in a standard-size litter box. I suppose if you have very weak hands, a scoop of regular width might be necessary since it holds less and would be easier on the hands.I had to write a review because this product actually works. I expect I will never have to buy another litter scoop again in my lifetime -- indeed, this scoop will likely survive me and be useful for a 100 years!Great to see a product well-made, unlike all those other rip-off manufacturers. Kudos to the manufacturer. Manufacturers usually don't make things to last nowadays and plan that their products will regularly fail and we will have to re-buy, over and over and over -- a practice which should be illegal, especially since it is greatly polluting to make a product then dispose of it or just bury it in a landfill. :0This thing could probably be used to chisel yourself a marble statue. Gone are the days of brittle plastic breaking as you try and lift the monstrous wad of pee infused, organic, non GMO, tofu charcoal cat litter fused to the bottom of the box.You can scrape the bottom of the box clean without this thing jiggling a millimeter. You could sift a tiger poop with ease. You're unstoppable!It is a little heavy, though.We have had cats for 50 years and have used many litter scoopers and this is the best so far.Metal is very strong, not like the cheap plastic scoops. Has a scraper on the edge to clean the bottom of the litter pan.I have had other metal scoopers and after awhile the handle will start to bend, and then break, but this is very sturdy.I even bought some extras for gifts to other cat owners.This thing is a beast and I love it. STURDY. LOOKS GOOD. Scoops a LOT all at once. Downside is it's so successful at the bigs scoops that you really do need to have a *strong* wrist muscle if you are going in for the giant scoops in the litter. If you have a weaker wrist or don't work in the skilled trades hefting around wood beams like I do, I suggest taking shallower scoops with this shiny big beast to prevent accidental injury (which would be embarassing... imagine having to say "I strained my wrist pretty bad while scooping the cat litter").Tldr; Buy it. But use responsibly.I use pine pellet litter, and really thought the pellets would fit through the slots of this larger scoop when sifting out poop. I was wrong. The pellets are just big enough to get stuck but not fall through. Great sturdy scoop otherwise. The hunt continues for a scoop that meets my needs.
